My first trip to Haiti was in November of 2002 and I have been to Haiti 25 times in the past 14 years. I stayed in Pastor Rigaud's home before Wayom Timoun (KKO) orphanage was established. My daughter, Tyianna, was brought to KKO on my fifth trip to Haiti in November of 2004. She was 3 weeks old and the 23rd child at the orphanage. Pastor and I discussed his call from God to rescue Haitian children from life on the streets and my call from God to adopt her. KKO filed with the Haitian government to become an internationally approved orphanage and in 2007, Tyianna was the first child to be adopted. During that time, my wife and my three sons all served with me on more than one missions trip.
My passion in serving in Haiti is to ensure that ministry can happen and God's Will is not hampered. My mission is to take those who are more qualified than myself into a situation where they can be used by God in mighty ways. Give those equipped to preach the gospel that opportunity, give those medically trained the chance to heal those in need. God gives me the physical strength to endure while allowing His Spirit to move in others. My talents in the states are more technical. I work in the computer field and have a knack for words. My true talent lies in my love for Haiti and its people. I have seen with my own eyes the spiritual battles others only read about. I have seen the power of prayer overcome the chantings of voodoo witch-doctors. I have seen miraculous healing when human hope was lost. |
