On the Haiti International Alliance website, you will have noticed a number of photos by Jack Miller (including all of those on the home page). As part of a partnership between Haiti International Alliance and Simpsonwood United Methodist Church, Jack traveled to Haiti in 2010 as a member of 2 different mission trips; one in June and one in November. From his time in Haiti, Jack has put together a collection of photos (and some video) that not only capture the aftermath of the January 12, 2010 earthquake, but also the vibrancy of the people of Haiti and the county itself.
Haiti Mission Trip (June 2010) – This album contains images from a mission trip by Tom Apsey and Jack Miller during the second week of June 2010, sponsored by Simpsonwood United Methodist Church (SUMC). The objective of the trip was to oversee the application of SUMC Haiti relief funds for an orphanage expansion needed to accommodate additional children after the earthquake and to assess opportunities for future mission work.
Haiti Mission Trip (November 2010) – This album contains images from a mission trip by David Heckman, Doug Heckman and Jack Miller during the third week of November 2010, sponsored by Simpsonwood United Methodist Church (SUMC). The objective of the trip was to oversee the start of construction for a school to be built in La Saline to help feed and educate the children who are suffering of malnutrition, resorting to eating “mud pies” instead of a normal diet. In addition, the team delivered a malnutrition formula known as Medica Mamba to a clinic and arranged for 30 children to be treated. They also delivered toys donated by a girls group for the children of the orphanage and in La Saline.
In both of these albums you will find a number of pictures showing the work that is being done in La Saline as well as photos from HIA’s Bethlehem Evangelical Baptist Church, College Jean Rigaud Antoine (CJRA), Wayom Timoun / Kingdom of Kids Orphanage (KKO), and Rapha Clinic. All of these photos are by Jack Miller, Johns Creek, GA, USA.
